물리학과

박수찬 교수는 1996년 서울대학교에서 학사학위를 받은 후, 동 대학원에서 석사(1998년)와 박사(2003년) 학위를 취득하였다. 이후 2003년부터 2006년까지 고등과학원에서 박사후 연구원으로 재직하였고, 2006년부터 2010년 2월까지 독일 쾰른대학교에서 박사후 연구원을 수행하였다. 2010년 3월 가톨릭대학교에 임용되어 현재 정교수로 재직 중이다. 박사학위 과정 동안에는 비평형계에 대한 장론적 접근을 연구하였으며, 이를 주제로 박사학위 논문을 작성하였다. 이후 비평형계에서 일어나는 상전이, 특히 흡수 상전이에 대한 연구에서 많은 성과를 내었다. 2006년 독일 쾰른대학교에서 시작한 생물학적 진화에 대한 연구 역시 국제공동연구로 현재까지 이어가고 있다. 현재 한국물리학회와 한국진화학회의 정회원으로 활동하고 있다.

Professor Su-Chan Park received his B.S. degree from Seoul National University in 1996, followed by M.S. (1998) and Ph.D. (2003) degrees from the same institution. He then served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) from 2003 to 2006, and subsequently as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Cologne, Germany, from 2006 to February 2010. In March 2010, he joined The Catholic University of Korea, where he currently serves as a full professor.
During his doctoral studies, he investigated field-theoretic approaches to nonequilibrium systems, which formed the subject of his doctoral dissertation. He has since made significant contributions to the study of phase transitions in nonequilibrium systems, with a particular focus on absorbing phase transitions. His research on biological evolution, which began at the University of Cologne in 2006, also continues to this day through international collaborations. He is currently a member of the Korean Physical Society and the Korean Society for Evolutionary Biology.

비평형통계물리학, 복잡계물리학 및 진화동역학에 대한 연구

Research on nonequilibrium statistical physics, complex systems, and evolutionary dynamics

핵자기공명(NMR)을 이용하여 물질의 자기적 특성을 주로 연구하고 있다.

카이스트 물리학과에서 학·석·박사 학위를 받았다. 고등과학원 연구원, 핀란드 알토대학교 박사후연구원, 포스텍 연구교수, 아시아태평양이론물리센터 그룹장을 거친 후 2020년부터 가톨릭대학교 물리학과 교수로 재직 중이다. 통계물리학과 복잡계 연구의 다양한 주제들, 특히 자기조직화임계성(SOC), 네트워크 과학, 시계열분석, 사회물리학 등에 관심을 갖고 연구하고 있다. 미국, 일본, 핀란드, 헝가리 등의 연구자들과 활발히 국제공동연구를 하고 있으며 복잡계 분야의 주요 학회들에서 프로그램 커미티 멤버로 꾸준히 활동하고 있다. Physical Review Letters, Physical Review X, Nature Human Behaviour 등 영향력 있는 저널에 논문을 발표했으며 2018년에는 Bursty Human Dynamics라는 책을 공저하여 Springer에서 출판했다.

I received my PhD in physics department of KAIST. Since then I worked for KIAS (2006-2010), Aalto University (2010-2014), POSTECH (2014-2017), and APCTP (2017-2020) before joining The Catholic University of Korea in 2020. My research interests include various topics in statistical physics and complex systems, such as self-organized criticality, network science, time series analysis, and social physics. I have internationally collaborated with researchers in the USA, Japan, Finland, and Hungary, and I have also been invited as a program committee member from flagship conferences in the field of complex systems and network science.
